Dr. Zhihui Xu received her LLB from China University of Political Science and Law in 1983. In 1985 she was enrolled as a candidate of LLM by Beijing University and the following year she was sent to Britain for further education by the Chinese government with a full scholarship from the National Education Committee. In 1992 she was awarded with a degree of Ph.D. in law at Exeter University, U.K.

Professional Experience

In 1993, she set up Gangxi Far East Law Firm and acted as the managing director till 2001. Between 1995 and 2002, she held numerous important positions, including Vice- President of Gangxi Lawyers' Association, Vice-President of All China Lawyers' Association and President of the All China Female Lawyers' Association. In 1998 she was named by the Ministry of Justice of China as the "Best Lawyer in China" and in 2001 as one of the " Top Ten Lawyers in Guangxi". In 2001 she joined B.D.L. International Law Firm. In 2003 she was elected as the deputy of the National People's Congress and appointed as supervisor of the Ministry of National Security. She held these positions till 2013. From 2002 to 2013, she was the director of the Education Committee / the director of Application and Approval Committee for Lawyers License of Beijing Lawyers' Association, professor of China University of Political Science and Law, etc.

Dr. Xu has been practicing as a professional lawyer since 1993. She has served as a standing legal counsel to more than 80 Chinese and overseas leading companies, financial institutions and governmental bodies. As the legal consultant and a main negotiator, Ms. Xu has taken part in the negotiations in over 90 investment projects involving electricity, highway. chemical industry, construction, etc. She has helped formulating successful company mergers and company reconstructions on more than 50 occasions. She has acted as counsel in numerous litigation and arbitration cases involving cross border investment, international transaction, marine transportation, etc.

She has clients from the United States, Britain, France, Switzerland, Austria, Singapore and Hong Kong, including Cartier International N.V. from Holland, Montblanc Simplo GmbH from German, New Balance, Playboy and Wynn from United States, Alfred Dunhill from Britain, ElectroSteel from India, V&S Vin & Sprit AB from Austria, the People's Insurance Company of P.R.C. , etc.

Ms. Xu is licensed to practice in the areas of securities and competitive tenders involving infrastructures in the P.R.C.
